It’s not perhaps to everyone’s taste, but I always found Orestes’ and Electra’s reunion in Electra to be quite sweet and “shippable,” especially placed in the context of Electra’s despair when she is informed of Orestes’ apparent death.

Set in the city of Argos a few years after the Trojan war, it recounts the tale of Electra and the vengeance that she and her brother Orestes take on their mother Clytemnestra and step father Aegisthus for the murder of their father, Agamemnon.

I haven’t read Electra! But it sounds quite shippable to me!

Another Greek mythology ship, just what I needed! (*adds to a list of thousands*)

@shipcestuousliteroticaproject

THANK THE GODS YOU GUYS ARE POSTING REYLO. I need somebody to talk about my (sadly unlikely to be canon) theory that Kylo is secretly Luke and Leia’s child, with that being the real reason why he refuses to acknowledge Han as his dad. Which, if Rey is also Luke’s kid, would make them half-siblings as well as cousins. I feel so messed up for this AND YET, they did have Luke/Leia in canon??

The Reylo shippers are all “not incest until proved canon” and I’m all “incest baby until canon makes that 100% impossible” (which, Force be with us, will never happen – never underestimate the power of headcanoning abilities, they are formidable).

I get such a rush imagining either Rey or Kylo as Leia’s baby with Luke. Rey makes sense because it would explain why she’s so strong with the Force and perhaps also why her origins are such a secret. But the real drama comes with Kylo because of the Kylo/Luke history – apprentice turning on his master, destroying everything, resetting the progress of the entire galaxy, etc.,

And that is a really intriguing theory about the Kylo/Han relationship. I could see Kylo looking up to Han his entire life and then having this crisis of identity once he learned the truth. The only major stumbling block I see is that if the name “Kylo” comes from Skywalker+Solo, why would Kylo give himself a name with “Solo” in it if he knew he wasn’t a Solo. You would think that most of his issues would be with Luke and not Han, unless he blamed Han for Leia not being faithful to him.

Both ideas are so RICH.

I’m 100% certain the canon would never go there, but as long as I’ve got some leeway to fanwank it I’ll be happy.

Luke/Leia was canon. May we never forget it.

PLS JUST GIVE ME LUKE/LEIA INCEST BABY. And REYLO INCEST. GIVE ME ALL THE THINGS.

Re: Frankenstein–In the novel Elizabeth is adopted as a young girl so the two grow up together. He refers to her as his “more than sister” and his mom even worries he might not want to marry her b/c of sibling-like feelings. I actually once read an interpretation of the monster as a manifestation of Victor’s subconscious horror of incest and a necessary key to incest avoidance; the monster kills Elizabeth on her and Victor’s wedding night, in their bed, before anything incestuous can happen.

@lviboheme:

Elizabeth Lavenza is five when she’s adopted by the Frankenstein family, as I recall.

5 is quite young!

Anon, now that you’ve mentioned that interpretation of Frankenstein, I feel as if I might have heard that before.

That all adds up a pretty incestuous situation, even if they grew up with an understanding that it would please everyone if they married.

Final Fantasy incest ships!

We get aboard the incest armada as early as Final Fantasy II! Gordon and Scott are both princes, and Scott dies early in the game, before he can even profess his love to a princess. Gordon feels devastated and weak without his brother, thinking he isn’t fit to be a leader in his stead.

In Final Fantasy IV we get the twins Palom and Porom, who are very close despite their occasional bickering and are shown in the sequel to be psychically connected, as Porom is able to sense something terribly wrong with her brother several hundreds of miles away. They’re like yin and yang, complementing each other with black and white magic, sacrifice themselves together (they get better. yeah, I have no idea) and are shown to care for one another deeply.
Another pair in this game is (spoilers!) Cecil and Theodor, aka Golbez. They were separated through Zemus when they were really young, but after Theodor breaks free from the creature’s control he is shown to immediately care for his younger brother, and feels regret for what he was forced to do. Cecil is willing to forgive Theodor in a heartbeat despite everything he’s done and still considers him family. In the sequel, Theodor does not hesitate in an attempt to sacrifice himself for Cecil’s sake, but Cecil won’t let him.
Oh, and the sequel introduces a couple of kids, so badass family incest is in order.

In Final Fantasy V there’s (spoilers, again) the sisters Faris and Lenna, who are again separated when young and later meet. Faris mellows her tough pirate front to admit she cares for Lenna, and Lenna is also very happy and glad to meet Faris even as this is only the first time they see each other.
Galuf and Krile are grandfather and granddaughter, and despite the huge age gap they can be cute; can I say (spoilers) Galuf gives his soul to her when he dies?

In Final Fantasy VI, the brothers Sabin and Edgar, oh so much. Edgar rigs a coin toss just so he can see his brother free and happy, and stays with the burden of carrying a nation. When they meet later they still understand each other more than anyone else, and play around as if nothing had happened, not to mention how Sabin feels after he learns that Edgar used a two-headed coin for his sake ten years back (and the coin is fashioned after the two princes, a custom gift made for their mother, which makes it even more touching.)

In Final Fantasy VII there are family relations but no actual blood relation, but there’s the fact you can (and are encouraged to) inbreed chocobos to get better chocobos.

Final Fantasy VIII doesn’t have much in the way of family anything, but there’s a pairing that I like a lot, Squall and his father Laguna. Another example in which they never saw each other until later on in their lives, and it isn’t immediately obvious to them that they are related, but Laguna still cares for and helps the cold and distant Squall however he can. Squall at first thinks the carefree Laguna is kinda too goofy, but seems to grow a soft spot for him.

In Final Fantasy IX we jump straight into a spoilery, not-exactly-blood-related brothership, Kuja and Zidane, who were created by the same man in a same manner and for a same purpose, and thus have an ideological view on being related; Mikoto can be considered their sister in the same way. In spite of being protagonist and antagonist, they grow to be sympathetic towards each other much later on, with Kuja demonstrating self-hatred and Zidane trying to comfort him. It’s important to mention Zidane chose to stay behind in an unstable location so he could try to save his brother, and that Kuja then pushed Zidane out of harm’s way and told him to leave for his friends, before dying. Zidane takes a pretty long while to return to Alexandria so I believe it’s implied he mourns Kuja.

In Final Fantasy X we got some cousins going on with Yuna and Rikku, who are at the very least teased at. There’s also the skirmishing, I-hate-you-but-I-actually-care-about-you thing happening with Tidus and his father Jecht.

Final Fantasy XII has plenty of characters and incest ships, so bear with me awhile. Firstly we have Vaan and Reks, two brothers who determinedly care about each other but that we don’t see much of because Reks dies very early in-game, sadly. (Late arrival spoilers) Noah (Gabranth) and Basch are tragic brothers, and so are Larsa and Vayne, who are opposite in what they believe in but still respect each other. There are viera sisters not to mention SIX moogle siblings, with Montblanc as the eldest, and any combination could be made out of that. And I may be wrong, but Ondore may be Ashe’s uncle?

Final Fantasy XIII has the sisters Serah and Lightning (Claire). Lightning is known for glaring daggers at Snow and considering him not worthy enough to be Serah’s boyfriend.

In Final Fantasy Tactics, we get quite a batch of siblings, with Ramza and Alma being full siblings with each other and half-siblings to Dycedarg and Zalbaag. Delita and Tietra are also siblings, and so are Wiegraf and Milleuda, Marach and Rapha, and Isilud and Meliadoul. They’re all pretty shippable despite being all tragic pairings.

In Bravely Default (which is a Final Fantasy game despite not having the title), there’s a case of potential ideological incest, (spoilers) in which Alternis is raised to be part of the Lee family, and has a major crush on the Lee’s actual daughter Edea. This is slightly debatable but Braev and Mahzer have basically (MAJOR spoilers) considered Ringabel (aka Alternis) a son in one of the dimensions, so ideologically it’s pretty in there.

If any other FF fans want to address something I forgot, or for a game I know less about (such as the Crystal Chronicles sub-series) please feel free!

i’ve just watched the first episode of war and peace omg!! helene and anatole are everything!!!!! i feel so #blessed thanks bbc

I KNOW!

It was even better than I had been hoping for. I would have liked to have seen them interacting more, just more everything with them (if you know what I mean!) but it was great.

I actually really liked how they were lying in bed together talking about their potential beneficial marriages to other people. It’s like their relationship is so far above any concerns about who they’re married to.

Callum Turner and Tuppence Middleton have awesome chemistry.

I can’t wait for more of them in episode 2.

Heyo! Just droppin in to let you know that BBC Siblings is back (because wow BBC3 is bad at hyping its own shows.) I don’t know if there’s gonna be any mention of/content like the end of series 1 but here’s hoping :’)

Hey!

Thank you! I use trakt.tv to keep track of my shows so I knew that Siblings was coming back. (So handy! I recommend it to everyone.) And about a month ago I did a google search because I couldn’t believe it hadn’t returned yet for the second season but I only had a little bit longer to wait.

I enjoyed 2.01 but sadly not too much Dan/Hannah shippy stuff. At least we’ll always have the season 1 finale.

One thing that I have always appreciated about their relationship, which 2.01 touched on a little bit, is that Dan doesn’t work simply because he doesn’t want to, and Hannah just lets him live with her and she might make a comment or two about him not contributing but she allows it 100%.

There was also a passing comment about their dad – I hope we get to meet him!

I was super tired last night and settled for Nicky, Ricky, Dicky, & Dawn being on my TV. The episode that was on is called “Unhappy Campers” and it centers around them going to camp and acting like they’re not related, which ultimately forces Dawn to pretend she’s dating Dicky because of her new friends. She ends up fake dating all of her brothers, and they make it known that they think it’s weird, but I just found it really interesting that they’d put this on a show about kids.

Don’t lie, Anon, we all know you NEVER miss an episode of Nicky, Ricky, Dicky and Dawn and you always watch at least one episode every night before bed. 🙂

She ends up fake dating all of her brothers

MY KIND OF SHOW.

I haven’t seen an episode of Nicky, Ricky, Dicky, and Dawn yet, but I think I’ve figured out which one I’ll try.

That is really interesting. Reminds me of the episode of Hannah Montana where Miley/Hannah’s brother Jackson pretends to date her to be famous. Disney just goes there, I guess. (I wish Nick would go there a little more. *coughs about Thundercest*)

Thanks for this, I’m so amused right now.

Hi!! I just have to say, I love your blog – you are slowly dragging me further down the path of incest shipping, so thank you :) Also, have you watched the show Spartacus at all? In the second season there is a sort of canon ship Seppius and his sister Seppia. Their relationship is strongly hinted on the show and, according to the wiki, was confirmed by the show’s creator as incestuous. :D

Hi, Anon!

I’m so glad to hear that you’re in the downward spiral. Misery Shameless fun loves company!

I did watch the show Spartacus, so I am familiar with Seppius/Seppia. I love them so much, I just wish there had been more.

I didn’t know that, about the show’s creator confirming, though I never doubted that they were intended to come off as incestuous. Still very good to know.

I wrote these forever ago, but I did a big analysis of Seppius/Seppia while their episodes were airing:

part 1

part 2

part 3

part 4

Here’s my tag for them.

Did you see the hateful eight ?

I did see it!

SPOILERS

The brother/sister situation was such whiplash – you find out they are siblings, they have the most adorable exchange ever, and then bam, he’s dead. I mean, you had just enough time to think, “Wow, I ship this” before it’s ripped from you.

I really like how everyone was wondering who would be coming to save her, and doubting that anyone would care about her enough to do such a crazy thing, and then in the end it was her brother.

And they were so cute! Those goofy smiles when they saw each other for the first time. I just love that they were in a gang/band together, in a fun way and not like an angsty Godfather-type way.

And Jody basically gave his life up when they threatened Daisy, and Daisy compromised her negotiations by not agreeing to give up Jody’s body even though it was worth the most amount of money.

For just a few minutes of scenes that pertained to the relationship there were an awful lot of feels!
