Do you consider Cathrine and Heathcliff as an incest couple? Yes/No why?

Hi, Anon!

I do not consider Catherine and Heathcliff to be incest. It’s an incestuous situation, I will certainly say that. But given how old Heathcliff was when he joined the family, I compare it more to a foster or step-sibling relationship, which doesn’t fall under my personal somewhat strict categorization of incest for this blog.

If the adoption happened after the age of 5 I don’t consider it incest. This is a pretty hard and fast rule for me. On some level it’s an arbitrary number but it is based on psychology and psychological studies. I’m not as interested in adoptive situations which is why I’m a stickler about what I count and what I don’t count.

I just watched Foxcather and omg!!! I’m not big on m/m but the brothers gave me all the feels. They touch all the time (because wrestling) and hug and they’re so codependent. I just loved every second of it *-*

I haven’t seen Foxcatcher! I feel a lot more motivated to see it now!!! Thanks for telling me.

Have you ever seen Warrior? Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton play boxing brothers who are about to face against each other in a big fight. A totally different dynamic but that was the first thing I thought of.

I know you’re not much for b/b relationships, but can we talk about The Goonies for a sec? I just did a rewatch and oh, man, it was great. Mikey and Brand can’t keep their hands off each other and I can’t believe I’ve never noticed that before.

That sounds so great. Like really really great. I don’t remember their relationship much which makes me want to rewatch The Goonies so much (all the more so because I didn’t realize Josh Brolin was in it and that delights me). Thanks, Anon!

I’m not really enthused about the whole Jace/Clary tee-hee-fooled-you thing Cassandra Claire had going on, since it seems like it was basically put in for the titillation factor. Then again Claire actually wrote a Ron/Ginny fanfic, which has since disappeared into the void. I read it though, and TBH unlike her Draco Trilogy which I just could NOT get into, it actually was well-done. Basically Ron discovers Ginny was “trying him out” to understand how to be a gf for Harry. Poor Ron, alas.

Yeah, two people thinking they’re related but not really being related doesn’t really do anything for me. I might ship it anyway (not in this case) but it’s not incentive. Cassandra Clare might have put it in for titillation, or it might just be a device to prolong the angst of the relationship and keep Jace and Clary apart. In either case I’m not a fan of it. BUT the fact that CC obviously does have a tiny bit of an incest kink is a slight mitigating factor. Or it makes it all the more unforgivable, I can’t decide.

I knew about the Ron/Ginny fic but I had no idea it ended like that. Poor Ron. No me gusta.

Totally random but there’s a line in the beloved and missed “The Middleman” where these artists are throwing an event and someone tells a guy to hang his “nude self portrait” and he replies with “hey! that’s my sister” (Its slightly incesty line and I’ll share if there are more in my rewatch)

I’ve never even heard of The Middleman! It sounds funny.

That is definitely an incesty line, Anon! Thanks for sharing!!!

It’s giving me all these weird ideas for AU’s where one of the siblings is a painter and ends up painting a nude portrait of their sibling. Or the relationship is already incestuous and someone finds the painting, which has been hidden away.

I like it as a funny thing, though it reminds me a little of Consent. Joshua didn’t paint – he worked with video – but you could clearly see echoes of his feelings for Amanda in his projects.

In Fallout Shelter (a mobile game based around the Fallout series) You can have incestuous couples. I had a mother and son mac on each other and as they ran off to make a baby the mom actually asked permission to call her own son ‘baby’.

Really????

That’s hilarious.

“Can I call you ‘Baby’?”

“You do already!”

I love that we’re always testing stuff like that out.

@howlingvoid

I think this upcoming movie “Feed” will be of our interest: “The story revolves around Olivia (Troian Bellisario) and Matthew Grey (Tom Felton), 18-year-old twins born into a world of privilege and high expectations. There are almost no boundaries between them; even their dreams are connected.

As the twins prepare for their last year of school together, an unexpected tragedy splits them apart, leaving the surviving sibling to learn how to live without their other half — or test how far they are willing to go to bring them back.“ The movie started filming last week.

WHOA. This sounds amazing!!!! I don’t even know where to begin with what I like most about the description of this movie.

(I’m also secretly thrilled that Troian is still playing teenagers because she’s actually one of the few people left on the planet who is older than me.)

Thank you so much for the scoop, Anon! This is definitely something to look forward to!!!!

I can’t wait for you to finish watching Flesh and Bone and read your commentary. I’ll reserve my own reaction. Just wanted to say something that might be of some interest to you (or anyone else). The tattoo on Brian’s chest is an Arabic word; pronounced “kafir” translated to “infidel”. I just wonder what made him choose it.

Hi, Anon!

I’m sorry to say that I haven’t had a chance to continue with the series yet but I have a lot more free time today and tomorrow than I’ve had so I know I’ll be watching it this weekend.

That’s fascinating about the tattoo! Now that you’ve told me what it means I can ponder it while I am watching. It could have a number of different meanings for him.

Thanks for sharing that tidbit, Anon!
