Good evening)) In the new promo for the series ” orphan black “, a clone of the project Casor kisses another clone of the project Leda. But we know that the clones were created from real brother and sister…

Woohoo!

I’ve been hearing about the growing incestuousness on Orphan Black, but I guess it was only getting started!

Thanks for the heads up, Anon!

boomboxgeneration:

lawboysam: Maeby and George Michael had that “fake” wedding ceremony to entertain Alzheimer’s patients – but it was said that it was real and then never mentioned again. Are they still married?

MitchHurwitz: That’s interesting. I guess they are! Who knew? I wonder if they’ve forgotten? Thanks to you, now I’ve remembered!

Bam. (x)

Lol some people think having Bart/Cindy amrrye ch otehr would be so awful because the author never intended for them to end up together ebcause of teh awful way Bart treated Cindy but I don’t really think that they decided to marry all fo a sudden and forget all of their past problems just because the movie didn’t show it doesn’t mean they didn’t work on their relationship or Bart on his psycholgical issues.

I agree. I don’t think everything that happened between them was whitewashed, even though that’s sort of what it seemed like in that scene.

What I saw was that Bart had a huge epiphany and about himself and about his feelings towards Chris and his feelings towards Cindy. What he said at Chris’ funeral – especially realizing that he didn’t want push people away anymore and that he had been a difficult child and not a victim – were so important and really showed how much he had grown.

They didn’t just get together at the end. Bart changed.

A lot of that was symbolized by the fact that he left Foxworth Hall.

And he treated Cindy terribly, but it’s obvious that she’s in love with him the whole time and she knows that his terrible behavior is because he can’t face his feelings for her, so I think it’s realistic that she could forgive him and leave all of that in the past and begin a new future with him.

the brother and sister from “sympathy for mr. vengeance”? its very very sad however, but this is oldboy’s director before he made oldboy and it shows

I haven’t seen Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance but I was just thinking that I needed to check out some of Park Chan-wook’s other works, because between Oldboy and Stoker he’s obviously got an interest in incest.

Ryu is a deaf-mute man working in a factory to support his ailing sister, who is in desperate need of a kidney transplant.

Well. I can see the potential there.

Thanks for the rec, Anon!

We also have to consider the fact that Jory goes to Corrine to tell him thetruth and we have no idea what she told him(in contrast they showed us her conversation with Bart).I mean for all we know she might have told him Chris is his bio dad and does Corrine even know about Julain. We know she knows abot Bart’s bio dad but seeing a mini copy of Chris and Cathy might have led her to believe he’s their son.

That’s an interesting possibility. I do definitely like that we have no idea what Corrine told him, and possibly she told him things in all the wrong way, which is why he reacted so badly.

The only problem I run into is that after that happened he was going to leave with Marisha. If he didn’t really think she was his grandmother, would be go with her? Would he agree to spend Christmas with her at the end, even after what she had said about Chris and Cathy being sick, and how she was going to expose them? And especially if he ever learned about the blackmail. That’s my only stumbling block. If only they hadn’t included that at all. And then there’s Melodie. Her reaction makes more sense if she thinks Chris is his biological father. What if that’s what Jory told her at first, and then he lied to her later and said it wasn’t true?

I think even if jory knew Chris was his bio dad when eh decided to go with Marisha he still grew up beliving she was his grndmotehr and more importantly he can’t really tell Marisha he’s not her grandsom because what she might do to Cathy and Chris and Jory still loves them despite everything and post ITBT I think it would be suspicious if he suddenly broke all contact with his grandmotehr not to mention he might eb afarid Meldoie might overreact and tell someone the truth.

Telling Marisha the truth would be risky, and I’m sure it would have been very confusing for Jory to learn she wasn’t really his grandmother, since, as you said, he had grown up loving her. But I feel like there’s a much looser connection between them in the movies. In the books he loves her a lot, and the whole family goes to visit her each summer, and she’s more sympathetic. In the movies, she doesn’t care about Jory’s family, only Jory. Obviously they talk on the phone sometimes, and he sometimes spends holidays with her, but she’s a very unlikable woman. It could go either way, I suppose.

Also was it me or wasn’t it weird how Chris propsed to Cathy that they and Jory can start over somehwere else and hey didn’t really mention Marisha and what she might do and she only declined because she knew she was pregnant by Bart Sr.

I assume Marisha hadn’t met Chris and they just thought she didn’t know. But I wonder if she found out about them from all the gossip around town? It is interesting that Chris doesn’t mention her. I really wish Cathy had never told Marisha that she was pregnant with Julian’s child.

Oh,and wasnt’t it kind of weird how John Amos told Corrine how she wanted to be with her chidlren and her children’s chidlren.I mean I know Chris is Jory and Bart’’ father in all the way it counts but I thought it was a suspicious thing to say because John Amos knew that Bart wasn’t Chris’s son maybe that’s why he liked hi better).I thought it was somewhat irnic that in the book Julain is mentioned way more often and art doesn’t think much of his bio dad while in the movie it’s the opposite.

“her children’s children”…hmmm. That does make me wonder a little bit. It has potential.

I do think Julian is mentioned more often than Bart Sr. in the books but Bart does think about Bart Sr. a lot. Corrine won’t shut up about him, and then in SOY he begs Cathy to tell him that she really loved Bart Sr. So I wouldn’t say it’s completely the opposite, but it’s still noticeable the way Julian is barely mentioned in ITBT and SOY even though Marisha is there in ITBT and gets mentioned a lot in the books, but Bart wondering about Bart Sr. is at least the same if not more than in the books.

I think even if Cathy knew for sure Jory is Chris’s son maybe she wouldn’t be honest with him since she wants him to have wife and children of his own it would also make Sarah adoring and taking care of Jory as if he was her own very ironic it’s rather interesting that the only time we see a real interaction between Jory and Chris is when he’s with Sarah and mentions Jory having Cory’s eyes.

Poor Sarah, lol. That would be some sad/hilarious irony. She’s already got her ironic line about thinking it’s sweet how much Chris loves his sister. Let’s heap the irony on.

Chris/Jory interactions in POTW are sorely lacking. We never see them together except for that scene. (And Cathy wasn’t even present for that scene!) I hadn’t really considered this before now – you’re such a genius! – but it’s making me suspicious again. It does feel like there’s a very noticeable absence here.

I can also see Chris feeling uncomfortable around Jory because he hates that Cathy had a son with another man, which just gives me ship feels and makes me cry.

I can see Cathy not telling Jory that Chris is his biological father because she’s afraid it might make him decide not have children. With the way Melodie talks about the house using them to continue the family line, you’ve got to wonder what kind of discussions they’ve had about it. Maybe Cathy could see that Jory and Melodie were afraid and so she withheld the truth.

I think Jory being a product of Chris and Cathy’s incest really chnages how we see him when we watch the movie. If Julian’s his bio dad then he’s not really that important in the grand scheme of things but if he’s Chris’s bio son then it makes him as important as Bart and their confrontations are also much more meaningful.

I’ve thought about how I wanted this for Chris but I hadn’t thought as much about how I wanted it for Jory. He’s an important character but there’s no question that he gets overshadowed by Bart. This would give me a different significance within the family. YES.

i agree with everything you said about why Cathy would be lying.I think even before Julain dying she didn’t have lots of options she may or may not have been sure who the father was and even if she was sure I think she would have pretended it to be otherwise and it’s not like she wasn’t already lying to Julain about being in love with Chris.

That’s a good point. Her life with Julian is already a lie because she’s in love with Chris. What’s one more lie if it’s better for the child and better for Chris?

Saw Armageddon for the first time. The beginning makes it seem like Grace is Harry’s wife. The rest of the movie does not help in making me ship these two less. The chemistry between them, plus their love/hate relationship is great. Have you see it?

I don’t think I’ve ever received an ask/comment about Armageddon before, and I’m really surprised, because I think Harry and Grace are really shippable. This message makes me really happy, Anon.

I was a pretty big fan of the movie before I became an incest shipper so my mind was not really open at all to that relationship as an incest ship at first but I couldn’t help considering it the last time I watched it (which was five years ago) even though I wasn’t big on father/daughter then and I’m even more primed now for the next time I watch it.

Even before I shipped it I was devastated by the end and didn’t want Harry to give his life to save someone who was only her boyfriend, even though I liked Grace’s relationship (and Harry’s relationship) with Ben Affleck’s character and didn’t want him to die either.

I never noticed how much it seems like Grace is his wife in that beginning part when Harry’s furiously hunting her down.  His outrage makes so much more sense if he was being cheated on. Of course he’s totally out of line, she’s a grown woman, but it’s just so shippable how much he objects to her dating anyone, especially anyone on the rig.

And then later on she has that line about how he shouldn’t be surprised that she’s with that guy because of course she fell for a guy who is just like her father. (That’s a generous paraphrase but if you read between the lines that’s more or less the meaning).

The shipping situation is really helped by the fact that even though Bruce Willis isn’t too young to be Liv Tyler’s father, many of his love interests in other movies from around that time weren’t much older than her. It’s very easy to imagine him with a woman of her age if she wasn’t his daughter. (Or even/especially if she is, in our case.)

Also, like you said, there’s great chemistry. Opinions may vary, but I think he has a way of speaking to her that is much more reminiscent of a girlfriend.

And it’s definitely one of my favorite kinds of dynamics for father/daughter ships. He loves her more than anything but he’s made selfish decisions in his life, and he’s overcompensating for being a lackluster father. She’s rebellious but her resentment towards him is more of a daddy issues type thing. I love it so much.

I’m now in love with the image of her as his wayward young wife, and she loves him but keeps cheating on him, and so he totes her around with him and they fight but really they love each other.

Thank you so much for the message, Anon!!!

There needs to be more light incest humor in movies. It would make them stand out from the crowd! Literally the only thing I remember about the movie Eurotrip is the twin siblings getting drunk and making out (well, that and Michelle T flashing to get a car to stop while they’re all hitchhiking).

I am totally in favor of more light incest humor in moves like with Jamie and Jenny in Eurotrip. That’s really the best example because there’s absolutely nothing about it that vilifies incest, and even though Jamie and Jenny are a little disturbed about it in the harsh sober light of the following day (and I think there’s one follow up moment where they decide not to hug), they actually handle it pretty well.

The only other examples I can think of that are sort of similar are Stranz and Fairchild (aka Will Arnett and Amy Poehler) in Blades of Glory, the figure skating brother/sister partner team who end up making out by the end, but they were the bad guys in the movie.

And then Chad and Jamie (Milo Ventimiglia and Leighton Meester) in That’s My Boy. It’s sort of hard to describe their relationship – she’s marrying someone else but resumes her periodic affair with her brother the night before the wedding as a last hurrah. Obviously the cheating (plus some other stuff) positions her as not that nice of a person, and their dynamic in bed is a little weird (I don’t remember exactly but I think he keeps talking as if he’s a little boy). Not ideal.

But I think of the entire series of Arrested Development as being like this, like how Michael and George Michael both pass Lindsay without seeing her face and make a comment about how sexy she is, or when Gob talks about the attractive new assistant he met on the phone only to learn it was Lindsay.

Also, The Color Wheel and Incest! The Musical don’t exactly have “light incest”, they’re more like romantic comedies, but it is nice to see incest and humor combined so freely.

You see it with cousins all the time though. Also mother/son relationships, as long as there’s just Oedipal vibes and not actually a sexual affair. The latter would be rare.

The song by Austra, “Habitat”

I WANT YOU
I need you, brother
I WANT YOU
I need you, brother

Whaaaaaaaaaaaa?

This is pretty great. I mean, she could mean “brother” in a general way but the lyrics work perfectly well for a brother/sister relationship, and the title makes me think of the house where they live together/grew up together.

There’s nothing denoting a forbidden relationship specifically but you do sort of get the vibe that she feels the love is wrong.

Great song rec, Anon! Thanks so much!
