I shipped ClairexPeter until Nathan took Claire to Mexico, and they had one amazing episode full of such intense tension that could not amount to all of hers with Peter. Theres stares, suggestive dialogue, more stares.. have you seen it? I rec it!

I’ve seen every episode of Heroes, but not since they were first on. My shipping was sort of all over the place – it really depended on the season and what was going on with the characters. I had several ships (2-3 at least) for Claire, Peter, and Nathan each, which is totally insane and not like me at all.

I don’t remember that episode specifically (which is a shame, it sounds like), but I do remember taking more interest in Nathan/Claire later on and that episode is probably part of what contributed to that. The Petrellis and their tension – they make incest shippers out of everyone, I think. Major writer and actor fails all over the place.

I’ve been wanting to rewatch Heroes for a long time. Taken as a whole I think it’s a bit of jumbled mess (which is why my shipping ran the course that it did, I think), but as a collection of individual moments I think it’s quite wonderful and there’s lot about it I would like to revisit. I will definitely be looking forward to that episode when that does happy.

I love hearing from a Nathan/Claire shipper. This is awesome.

Have you read The Magic Toyshop by Angela Carter? It contains a canon brother/sister relationship as well as a girl and her (unrelated) uncle. The PDF is easily found online, and there is also a somewhat-faithful move adaptation on YouTube.

This all sounds too good to be true, Anon! I’m not familiar with the novel or the movie.

Here’s the entire movie on youtube. I couldn’t find a PDF online except for a torrent, so please let me know if anyone does. But I did find a lot of academic papers on the novel, which is very interesting.

Thank you so much for this recommendation! I will have to watch the movie as soon as I can and hopefully read the book soon as well. Or maybe I should read the book first? I don’t know. Anyway, very exciting!!!

Like the other Anon I got some vibes from Talia/Ethan from Telltale’s Game of Thrones, but there is another Forrester Sibling, who I won’t name because spoilers, that I thought had pretty great chemistry with Talia in Episode 2

This is great, we’re starting to form a little party of Ethan/Talia shippers here. It’s always nice to know that you’re not the only one thought, “Hey, I might ship this a little,” or “Hey, I could see something else going on here.”

I haven’t played the game so I don’t know about this other Forrester but maybe the other Anon and anyone else who has played it thought the same thing.

It would only be appropriate for a Game of Thrones game to have a bunch of suggestive sibling relationships.

You can see glimpses of cut scenes in this b-roll footage. In particular, there is lots of deleted dialogue in evidence in the Jupiter/Titus dinner scene:

J: “So, this is your idea of an intimate dinner, huh?”
T: “This is your first official state dinner.”
J: “I’ve never had my hair done by a robot before.”

Only in Jupiter Ascending would such glorious lines be spoken.

I had to gif this moment from one of the trailers. There’s so much going on:

Balem is on the verge of spectacular, angry tears.
Balem is almost touching Jupe’s face, though he’s not quite making contact. As one of my followers said, he appears to be caught half way between repulsion and fascination.
Balem’s costume sparkles, and I reckon he’s been taken wardrobe inspiration from Jareth the Goblin King (if you haven’t seen Labyrinth, you really should).
Jupiter has the best “villain speech, really?” face ever.

about the legend about Great Alexander’s sister, Suposedly Alexander’s sister a mermaid, drank the water of immortality and lives at the waters of Black Sea, appears to sailors at midnight and asks them “Does the king Alexander live?” if they say yes she lets them live and sings playing her lyre, if they say no she sinks their boat taking the sailors with her underwater. But after bc she feels guilty for killing them she cries and grieves and starts a huge storm -cont-

sorry just wanted to give u some more accurate info on the greek legend since im greek and u seemed intrested:p dont really take the movie
Alexander into detail:p have a nice day x

Yes, I’m definitely interested and I always love learning more, especially about such a fascinating legend like this. Thank you for sharing this information. It’s so cool that you’re Greek! – I really envy your rich cultural heritage.

(And don’t worry, I take everything historical from movies with a grain of salt.)

I love that her crying starts a storm. I’m glad she feels guilty afterwards. Her denial/grief about Alexander’s death is so strong that she kills them but then she’s repentant afterwards because she knows it was wrong.

CHARACTER THOUGHTS: BALEM ABRASAX

Sorry Jupiter, but Balem is definitely the most interesting character in the film. His mental instability (the arch whispering and MANIC SCREAMING do not imply he’s completely balanced and well-adjusted) and blatant obssession with his mother mean he is very diffirent from your standard sci-fi flick villain.

I left with the impression that Balem was very much coddled by his mother, Seraphi. He was utterly devoted to her and obeyed her in everything. They were exceptionally close and spent a great deal of time together because Balem was Seraphi’s primary heir as well as her son. The film suggests that the attachment was unhealthy, and there are multiple not-so subtle implications of incest.

My take-away is that Seraphi dominated Balem to such an extent that she could order him to kill her and have him obey, despite the pain the act caused him (I believed him at the end – I don’t think he wanted to kill his mother at all). His mother’s death left him alone and tormented by guilt and loss, and he turned his attention to asserting his power and supremacy in an attempt to fill the void. The emergence of Jupiter threw everything off balance, and in some scenes it’s clear that he’s almost unconciously confusing Jupiter with his mother. The anger Balem was directing towards Jupiter as he tried to throttle her towards the end of the film seemed to be more directed at his dead mother than Jupiter herself.

That’s just some initial thoughts. I’m hoping to catch the film in theaters again before it gets booted out, so I should be able to expand on and refine this then.

What are your thoughts about the character? Have you developed any theories about his upbringing/motivations/general craziness?
